  • Italian night @ Maurice (Netherlands): Exuberant and expressive nuances of roses, peach, lychee and exotic flowers and spices. Sorry to say that it does have some Alsatian Pinot Gris/Gewurztraminer resemblance on the nose, but on the palate it is complete dry, tight and very mineral. Juicy, unctuous mouthfeel that builds wonderfully through the mid-palate into a powerful, echoing finish. Very well balanced and complex, some alcohol in the finish. Great wine. 18/20

  • With famous luster this Friulano-based wine brings lemon-color with golden traces.

Desperate to breath the wine unfolds with time, swirled and tossed around in its glass. Suddenly the wine turns almost volatile and very aromatic. With energy it brings me incredible and intense pineapples, pear, lychee, tight minerality, various orange blossom and a certain buttery aroma.

The acidity is volatile and very reminiscent of a vinegary sense. By extreme fruit concentration the body is greasy and really slick. Behind this massive concentration of flavors is a well-hidden alcohol. Fine and lingering, all characters of orange zest, pine apple, white flowers and autolysis is now unfolded on the mid-palate, throughout the finish and onto the length.

Enzo Pontoni shows yet again that great wines comes from within the vineyards, nursed with passionate care. Because of the fruit concentration, even oak-notes are entirely masked by the massive phenolic content. It is thought-provoking how this wine, in the long run, will age. Miani Tocai Friulano Filip strikes a chord of 2004 Sine Qua Non The Rejuvenators, as a junior-version with faintly more elegance. Enzo Pontoni is one iconic and outstanding winemaker, and this is one outstanding wine. Drink until ~2017. http://quaffable.org/?p=455

  • Wow!! Totally different than the last bottle. This was rocking!

    Pale, yellow straw color

Nose: Slight hints of pineapple, green apple and lychee. clean and fresh to the nose. Wet stone finish.

Palate: Pineapple with background of lychee gives way to foamed cream, crushed clam shells, granite and sea spray.

    Great, great wine!

    Solid A.

  • Off. Seemed over the hill. Not corked, but not great. A bit oxidized, perhaps VA

Not sure if this was just too advanced.
