The Return to the Ledbury (The Ledbury, London): A beautiful magnum. We did not decant albeit it is not without its value add if one does. A wine of 2 sides. The nose is lemony, citrus, sweet lemon and points to a sharper wine. The palate is more oily, rounder, still with a lot of freshness and brightness but also less of a mineral wine that the nose sort of promised. Beautiful and a joy. 93 and with good life ahead.

Celebration for Celine at Tenuta/P90: Was stumped by this. Could only land at non-Chardonnay but definitely wasn’t a grape that I was familiar with. When prompted that it was an Italian, I guessed a Terlano white. Oily, waxy texture with honey and hazelnut notes. Mainly tropical rather than citrus fruit, good acidity despite the warm vintage that gave a rounder nature to the wine.

Blind from neighbour. Bottle popped the night before. Drank in Gabriel Standart. Appearance is clear, medium intensity, yellow lemon colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of ripe peach, ripe apple, green melon, almond nut, integrated oak. Developing. On the palate, dry, medium acidity, medium+ alcohol (14%), full body. Meidum+ flavour intensity, with flavours of ripe rich peach, ripe yellow apples, slight green melon, almond nuts and oak, background minerality. Long rich finish with salted almond nuts. Very good quality. Nice drinking already. Might get even more salty and nutty with more age.

Dry and refreshing, satisfying minerality, subtle fruit with herbal tones. Great expression of this varietal.
