Bouquet of black fruits, sandalwood and cigar box, with black and blue fruits, mocha and spice in an expanding mid-palate and ending with a long smooth finish of mature tannin's. Only decanted an hour at the restaurant and it started at 93 and by dessert it was at 96.

This has lost touch since we first started drinking them way back when - Have not tried a bottle in 2.5 year. My good friend Michael thinks while good it is on the way down. I think that it is on a plateau - it will not get better but it will not go south anytime soon. It is still a great bottle of wine. It might have been the stiff competition from the Realm Dr Crane that we drank alongside. I opened the bottle 3 hours before dinner. The nose was dark fruit and mocha. The palate was blueberry, dark plums, tobacco and hints of mocha which led to a long, smooth finish as well as a touch of raspberry. Served with assorted appetizers.
To Kalon and Dr. Crane Night (Charlie Palmer Steak NYC): Decanted for over an hour before pouring. Out of the 8 of us, this was the unanimous WOTN. Big, complex, with a long finish. I could drink this on its own or with the big rib eye steak that I had. A real treat!
Wow…decanted for 1 hour and then drank over the evening, this wine was spectacular. An almost opaque inky purple and just exploding with notes of wet rock, blackberries, blueberries, and blackcurrants. Full bodied, rich and opulent in the mouth with a beautifully structured backbone. The finish is long and sweet with silky, well integrated tannins. I was going to wait a few years before opening the next bottle but I’m not sure I’ll be able too.
