Tweet up for Elgin Syrah/Shiraz (Chalk and Cork Cape Town): (Tasted Blind): One Man Band 2009. A deep- garnet wine. Lovely intense nose offers lots of briary fruit, with blackcurrant and some tinned peas. Full-bodied, ripe, with a mineral-acid, tight edge that keeps the juiciness in check. Plenty of black fruit flavours with darker chocolate, liquorice and gentle spices. The austere tannins that will calm the wine is concentrated, and all balance nicely like a well-cut suit.
