Blackcurrant, vanilla, leather, tobacco big and bold ending on a bitter and stemy, drying tanic finish. I fear this wine will not evolve well as it lacks fruit. Half an hour later, fruit was gone left with only tertiary notes. This bottle of Tanabrk Hill, Philip Togni’s second wine, usually retails around $90 CAD. At that price, I cannot recommend this to anyone. Drink before 2025. Tannins will take this wine further, however there will not be any fruit present to make this wine enjoyable in the future. Pass.

4+ years since my last bottle, and a good improvement from what I remember. Incredible nose of blue fruits. Licorice, leather and dark berries make up a full bodied wine, that’s well balanced with good acidity and well integrated tannins. Not sure if this would get any better, but it will easily last several more years.

This is an unbelievable second wine. It's so savory and earthy and old school, but doesnt lack fruit. 2012 can be a bit forward and hedonistic but this certainly didnt go that route. It almost has the minerality and gravel to be a pessac or some other left bank. Blind you would be forgiven for saying corison or old forman. Some may say it's too green for them, but its right in my wheelhouse. Chapeau.

Inky in color with a very short reddish/ brick rim.
Full bodied with medium acidity
Showing black fruits with earth, bell pepper, tobacco, oak, dark coffee, pencil lead, bitter herbs, earth, light roasted bell pepper and forest floor.
Soft tannins on the tangy finish.
This 10 year old Napa Cabernet Sauvignon is probably on its way out. Still very drinkable, but a little unbalanced and showing lots of earth notes.
Good right out of the bottle, and better after two hours of air time.
Showing nice complexity at this point, but a little bitter for my taste.
Although still good, I expected more from this second wine from this producer and this vintage.
90 points.
$80 (current vintage).

Curiously, out of shape and form. Over the (Tanbark) hill.
