  • Tuesday Night Double Blind $50+ (Bin 75 Alpharetta, GA): Opaque core with dull maroon rim; candied violets, Kool-Aid, super reduced pencil eraser, beef stock and blood, a monster, grapey, so dense, sour firm acid, lots of dry extract; initially N. Rhone but some flavors suggested Burg though I was the only one there.

  • Barrel tasting at Domaine Dugat-py with Bernard Dugat. All the wines tasted were almost similar in colour - Purplish and inky. This was the real deal. Lovely deep, rich and intense nose. Lots of blueberries and violets. Palate had lots of sweet, ripe and intense fruits. Great silky tannins and lovely elegance compared to the muscular Mazoyeres. Finish was incredibly long, there was the slightest hint of oak, but really well balanced. Bernard has hit the jackpot again with the 2013s.
