  • On PnP, earthy, white pepper, floral and vegetal, with only minor sour cherry. Elegant and otherwise balanced, but a bit bitter and astringent. My initial thought was Bordeaux from a hot year.

Gave the next glass 30 min after a bottle shake decant. The astringency is gone but still bitter, more fruit on the palate.

After 2 hrs, this settled down into what it is. It’s good for what it is, but this is more earthy than fruity/floral. It needed food to show its best, but that, unfortunately, was not in the cards today.

The Trespass wines are a confounding enigma for me, some drink well young, some don’t, some need air, some don’t, some need age, some don’t, some need some combination of the above, some need luck on the day you open them. If you’ve figured out the combination, let me know.

  • Last 2 days of 2022 Naples-palooza; 12/30/2022-12/31/2022 (Casa Mark1npt): This wine is holding up nicely and the fruit is still going strong. Unlike Mark, I found this quite astringent and tannic with a bitter note on the back end at pnp. Better after some more air.

  • The oldest Trespass to date and brought to the palooza tonight by yours truly. Pnp'd and enjoyed over the next 3-4 hours. Needs no special handling, it's fabulous from the start. Great floral component and mouth feel from the beginning. A great way to start the evening! Red fruited, smooth texture in the mouth. Held together quite well.

  • Pop and pour, followed over two hours out of the bottle. Dark, lush berries on the nose with white pepper, charred wood, and leather.

Really nice on the palate; same flavors as on the nose with a well-balanced, velvety mouth feel that envelops the front and mid palate and gives a finish of 20+ seconds. Last bottle reflects a bit of variation as this is significantly better, though the flavors do begin deteriorating towards the end of the window. Certainly good through 2021-22 as a pop and pour

  • Nose is non descript but not tight. Light on the palate, this is in there back nine of its life and I’ll drink remaining bottles during 2019.

Bit of dark and kirsch cherry with white pepper on the edge. Went very well w salmon and ling cod tonite; Would go equally well with poultry of any sort, but would not pair this with red or braised meats. Drink up.
