Far and away my best btl, and just lovely now. On the nose: cola, olive brine, blackberry. On the palate: lovely acidity, good density, blackberry, olive brine, soft cola, black pepper, and still a nice tannic spine. Finishes with a flourish of black pepper and spice. Perfect for our mood on this crisp eveming.

A gift from a friend four or five years ago, and we enjoyed it tonight. The fruit was muted, but I gave this one an hour decant. Didn't need to, honestly. Its lack of heft was balanced by its copious sweet and savory notes. Emphasis on savory.

Black fruit, jammy and leathery up front, brine and savory notes in the core, jammy towards the finish with tertiary elements sticking out. Lower acidity. Have had a few bottles of the 2008 which is in fantastic shape, this is flaccid and uninteresting by comparison.

Beautiful nose with loads of olive brine, bacon, pine needle, and black raspberry. Rather thin on the palate...acidity seemed attenuated so this seemed a little tired. Nevertheless, good fruit with loads of black raspberry and olive. A hint of tannin on the finish. Good, but this bottle seemed to suggest this has hit the downslope.

Big, briny Syrah. Deep ruby, elegant nose of char, tobacco, violet and high-toned fruits. Similar on the palate. Briny and herbaceous on entry, with tart cherries, smoked meat, and pepper heat, but restrained across the palate. Medium finish. We popped and poured. Don't recommend that. Maybe more fruit there, and best on day 2 or 3. Give it a generous decant or hold. Focused and classy.
