The nose is smoky, cedar and leathery with some great black fruits. Very rich and smooth with a velvety mouthfeel. Great purity and depth of flavours. Very Good Indeed +.

Lunch at Abadia Retuerta (Abadia Retuerta, Sardon del Duero): 50% tempranillo, 50% Cabernet Sauvignon. Matured in French Allier oak for 18 months. An elegant, restrained nose. Rich and rounded on the palate. A big wine, but nicely balanced. Initially impressive, but not as much character as the Seleccion Especial. Very soft tannins. Very Good Indeed.

Decanter Fine Wine Encounter 2005 (The Landmark Hotel, London): Nice powerful nose. Drinking well now, good concentration of berry fruit flavours, nice balance and finish.
