stalky nose, complex with dark fruit Savoury oak here too Ripe tannins with notes of tobacco Long finish Seems to be missing something in the middle. It doesn't quite work I preferred the fruit of the Reserve syrah

In the emerging Hawkes Bay New Zealand syrah style, a long way from big jammy Aussie Shiraz. Big on fruit but with a backbone, taut. Light-medium body only. The nose was a delight of dark fruits perfume. This is classy red wine, tons of brooding intensity, a hint of mint. Good long finish. Young yet, cellar further, maybe 2017-2020. It is good wine, well crafted, fine, but a tad expensive at £30.00+ sterling for a NZ syrah, so not fantastic value-for-money.

Brief notes only, tasted at annual NZ Trade Tasting London Jan 2015
Light-Medium body; lovely purfumed nose; long flavours once tasted; not at all like an Aussie Shiraz, defo in the 'new' NZ style of Syrah.
RR price £36.00.......Hmmm, doubt if it's worth that much, more like £25.00

Game of Rhones (Carriageworks, Redfern): blackberry and black pepper…juicy, lacks a little fruit on the palate. Okay at best
