Peppery, slightly bitter with notes of peppermint and coriander. Wasn’t what I was expecting but was not bad. Would have to pair well with food for maximum enjoyment.

Te Mata Bullnose is always enjoyable, whatever the vintage. The 2018 didn't disappoint.
Very rich, dark red, almost black. Still quite brilliant coming out of bottle.
Strong spice nose, tobacco, cedar, marzipan, nutmeg, very little fruit. The palette is almost reversed, loads of lush red fruit, raspberry, cassis, with a touch of dusty attic, leads to a slightly sweet, medium length finish.

Last bottle I had about a year ago was way better - this one has lost a lot of fruit in 9 months. I’ll be offloading the other bottle I have :(

Hawkes Bay Tasting (Prince Sydney, 40 Hansard Street): Meaty, savoury, muted dark fruits, a little pepper, sweet oak spice, sour black, fruits, plentiful tannins are drying and chalky textured. Nah.
