Powerful and dense, quite tannic. Oak is nearly overwhelming. A day in the open bottle didn't do much at all except maybe bring some acidity to the fore. Finish medium and good, but not compelling. Not a good match with putanesca dish. Would probably work well with lamb.

New Orleans Wine and Food Expo 2006; 5/24/2006-5/29/2006 (New Orleans, LA -- Hilton Riverwalk Hotel): I wasn't at all familiar with this wine. It was being served at the Mondavi/Folio table at the New Orleans Wine and Food Expo along with Le Serre Nuove and the Oberon Cabernet. The winemaker even gave me a free bottle at the end of the event, though they were not supposed to. Anyhow, this is great. Dark and rich, full bodied. Aroma of dark plum and black cherry. Powerful flavors of dark cocoa, thyme, boysenberry cobbler, plum, and black raspberry. This is a rich and extracted, black to the rim, and has very nice integration of sweet tannin and mellow acidity. Very surprising to be so open for such a young Petite Syrah. Only three years old and drinking fairly nicely right now, but will be better in a few years. Definitely worth a buy. Celler for 3-5 and drink up to ten or more.

A disppointment. Past its prime, more prunes than any berries.
