Six nations tasting (pyrmont wharf, sydney): oaky with spice and cream over muted citrus and stone fruit…good but slightly out of whack. Too much oak and alcohol heat for me. Okay.

Very pale colour, soft straw. Beautifully fragrant grilled nuts, peach and citrus zest. Peach, citrus fruits, very fine French oak spice and grilled nuts. A lovely smooth texture. A gentle honeyed finish which is smooth but very long with fine acidity and not a hint of astringency. Not quite the overtly powerful finish that might be expected but the flavours are pure and refined and very well integrated. No obvious development, drinking beautifully.

A very Burgundian Aussie chardonnay with mineral-driven yellow fruit, citrus, and honey. Ripe and dense on the palate with impeccable balance. 91-92
