  • A translucent ruby, bricking at the edges. Very see-through-able and delicate in appearance. An interesting nose that vacillated between dull and focused. Fruity notes of strawberry and boysenberry with hints of orange peal and baking spice. Elegant, not complex. Medium bodied on the palate with nicely integrated acid, low-ish tannin, beautiful fruit flavors and a delicate finish. This is so silky and fresh! A joy to drink and great with yakitori. Good for another 3 years.

  • Red fruited, medium bodied. Read verve and length to this wine. Probably a drink early proposition but a thoroughly delicious one at that.

  • 2012 Cotes du Rhone (Weygandt Wines - Washington, D.C.): Floral nose, baking spices and pepper on top of the cool berry fruit. Well-structured and a bit tight perhaps, but lots going on. Berry compote mixes with dusty earth, pepper, violets and a hint of olive. 90% Grenache with some Syrah, Mourvedre and Cinsault.

  • Black cherry in color. Rather shy on the nose, with just a hint of bright cherries and raspberries, and a slight whiff of alcohol. Suspect partial carbonic maceration. Somewhat disjointed on the palate, with quite a significant dose of tannin and not much concentration of fruit to balance it out. Acid level is good, so it doesn’t feel overly heavy, but there just isn’t much flavor there. Some heat from the alcohol as well. Medium finish with a bit of black cherry fruit but dominated by tannin. Fine, but underwhelming.
