Medium garnet with reflections of red. My first time tasting this wine in almost five years and doing so makes me think of 2005 Bordeaux in that a few of the best wines are starting to drink well but most seem decades away. Here five years - and several hours of air - have done little to encourage this to come out and play. On the nose it still has its back turned, just hinting at dried red fruits and amaro notes. On the palate it offers a better glimpse of the future with bright red fruits, clay and rosemary flavors showing against a wall of ripe but still dominant tannins. Perhaps another three to five years is in order.

Top Sangiovese with mini Rancia vertical: Dark intense red, with a hint of garnet on the nail. Very intense nose of herbs, red fruits and very earthy. In the mouth it's full, with sweetness from the fruits make it even more pleasant, with still strong but integrated tannins and fine acidity. The finish is very long and gives a perfect close to this wine.

Medium burgundy color with slight orange rust at the rim. Nose smells of light cherry, iron blood and tar-like volcanic rock. Medium body and tannin still present but acid showing with more tar and dark berry flavor with just a little herb. Persistent finish but a little bitter. Not bad but something’s missing

Good color, medium to full body. Drank nicely, fruit is still fresh, still has time left - can age another 3 to 5 years.
