Capanna Brunello Masterclass, Gordon's, Waltham, Mass.: From a magnum. We drank this alongside the 2018, and much preferred the younger wine. This one is notably darker, and it lacks some of the definition of the 2018. From a very dry vintage.

Medium garnet with reflections of red. An assertive Brunello, but for 2017, a pretty delicious one. On the nose this is a touch subdued offering lightly baked aromas of dried red cherries, red raspberries, roses, dried thyme, scorched clay, cloves, and a touch of nutty oxidation. Nearly full-bodied on the palate with medium+ acidity and drying tannins that are nicely balanced by jaunty red fruit and herbes de Provence flavors. This isn't the classiest Capanna Brunello I've ever had, but in the context of 2017, it is tough to fault it.

Velmi kysele a plné alkoholu, stále rozbité. Schází harmonie, hodně tříslovin. V porovnání s Casanova je to hodně základní. Možná za pár let. Ale .....

It’s not a Brunello that I would reach for, lacks any character and balance

Good everyday Brunello, but nothing life changing
