  • Lithe and chalky. Lovely white fruit and lemon skin on the nose. Good length and energy. Fabulous with shrimp and grits.

  • Bought en primeur almost a decade ago. Nothing remarkable really - just a finely chiselled, citrusy, lean white Burgundy with excellent definition and subtle creaminess. But it's a virtue that after 10 years it still has such charms. Lovely, if modest.

  • Served a bit too cold. But with air more dimension emerges. Preserved lemon and apple skin on the nose with a touch of lemon curd and crushed herbs. The palate reflects the coolness of the vintage with lemon verbena notes and apple taking the fore, while richer notes lurk in the background. There’s good mineral cut, but this is showing a tad leaner than a bottle enjoyed this summer. I’d venture this is a transitional bottle, as previous bottles from the case have seemed to put on weight, but for some the herbal elements and relative—and I mean relative—tautness may call for drinking sooner rather than later. That said, with roasted Snowdance chicken and Tuscan salsa verde this is quite satisfying. I’ve enjoyed a couple bottles of the Bourgogne VV and Tessons this past year and this seems to be an outlier, but the next bottles should determine that, I would think.

  • Better than the 2016 that I tried previously but still a little light and dilute for my liking. Slightly green notes, bright fruits of melon and pear but a little soft on the palate. Almost more like a Muscadet in profile. Fingers crossed that there will be better luck with the higher bottlings.

  • This was very reductive a few years ago, but seems to have settled down. Needs time to open so a quick decant is advised. Bright, lemon, light melon and pear, anise. Short finish. Good drinking now.
