One last round at Jade Court (Chicago, IL): From magnum. I've quite liked the Fichet wines when I've tasted them, but this shows pretty characteristic for the vintage, and not in a good way. It's a bit flabby, with an almost grapey, bubble-gum-like quality. Simple on the palate, and missing the racy acidity and minerality (and honestly some of the reduction) from other bottles of Fichet that I've had.

Full lemon colour. Medium and developing nose with ripe yellow apples, peach, ripe lemon, butter, charred wood and flint. Medium taste of ripe yellow apples, pear, ripe lemon, charred wood, butter, roasted walnuts and flint. Long and dry finish. High acidity. Medium body. A very good Bourgogne Blanc from a warm vintage. Drink now or over the next couple of years. Goes well with fish or shellfish.

Delicately floral with lemon, lemon peel, lemon curd on nose and palate. Lots of stuffing for its level, this is a great Bourgogne. Just as good when re-tasted 48 hours after initially opened.
