  • Cathiard NSG Aux Thorey 2013.
    Trenger luft for å blomstre.
    Cathiard-parfymen kommer sigende sakte.
Fatbruken er ypperlig og spicen er særdeles vakker.
    Slank, presis og flørtende.
    Vektløs intensitet.
    Sylskarp nerve.
    Drikker supert, men ingen hast.
Stram flott finish som sitter lenge med fine bestemte tanniner. 93p

  • Deep fruit, both red and black on the nose. Some oak, but very well integrated in what appears to be a very complete wine. Nothing sticks out or appears to be mislocated. Very good concentration and acidity, but the fruit quality is supreme for this vintage. Drinking well now, will hold for many years to come. Masterful wine.

  • SMD at Bar-a-Thym (Bar-a-Thym, Singapore): I really liked this. In true Cathiard style, it came across a touch modern and still a bit oaked, but boy was it elegant and oh-so drinkable. The nose was really alluring, with red cherries and darker wild berry shades garlanded with a blush of floral perfume. At the sides of the bouquet, there were notes of earth and wet stone mineral as well, and then just a little kiss of herby, woody, oaky spices. Very nice indeed. The palate was really pretty too, especially for an NSG - with gobs of juicy acidity and sweet tannins framing a lovely, pure core of red cherries and ripe blueberries, again seasoned with that nice bit of woody spice. Really, really nice, and with quite a bit of muscular presence to it on the attack and midpalate. Solid finish too, showing a twist of orange peel and a little streak of mineral leading into a slight linger of sweet oak notes. Modern in its styling for sure - but boy this was a stylish, polished, extremely well put together mouthful. It was drinking very well on the night - it will last a lot longer in the cellar for sure, but I am not sure it will improve all that much from this showing.

  • Klar rød med svakt rosaskjær. Utrolig ren og presis på duft. Mørk, jordlig, nesten hypnotiserende nese. Frukten er mørk og knapp. Alt i alt handler vinen mer om krydder enn frukt. Nydelig ren frukt i munn. Stor vin. Sjelden man opplever slikt fokus. Notatene under er helt på jordet.

  • A good 1er cru. I’m a fan of Southern CdN Pinot. It was similar in level to a top class American Pinot like Rhys - good ingredients competently put together resulting in a final product that is well balanced and satisfying to drink. It wasn’t a tantalizing, haunting, special bottle like you get from some of my favorite producers but good none the less.
