Alvaro Palacios is a magician. This wine drinks like a Bordeaux, and at 10 years is as smooth as it gets. Great balance and smooth tannins, good acidity and still years to go. Sorry, this was my last of the 2013.

Glass pour out of 3L double magnum with Coravin at La Rambla in HK. Ruby red in glass with an ever slight twinge of garnet. Mainly black fruit driven at first: blackberry, maybe some blueberry, licorice, smokey. Later, the nose took on red fruits such as red cherry and strawberry.
Palate is dry, med+ acidity, very well integrated med tannins, high alc and full body. Very fruity, perhaps more red fruit driven. Perfectly balanced- nothing out of place here in any way. Perfect lunchtime wine to match the “Spanish tonkatsu” and patatas bravas.

Dark fruit, savoury/meaty notes to finish, medium plus body, a good match for grilled lamb chops with Moroccan spices.

In a great place right now. Extremely well balanced with a small amount slightly dusty tannins. Acidity and fruit are slowly diminishing - drink up.

A complex satisfying wine that shape shifts over a two+ hour drinking window.
