(JAROLIERES JM Boillot) Red Burgundy Values Dear Friends, If you are looking for well-priced red Burgundy to actually drink and not brag about, the 2004s continue to tumble in price and many of the wines below represent excellent buys. Most of us will need something while we wait for our 2005s to come around and both of the wines below are great choices to fill in the gap. We are always looking for top value in red Burgundy and, while I am not usually a big fan of Jean-Marc, he seemed to let the vintage come to the wine in 2004 which is why he had such impressive results...and, you can’t beat the prices. Check the price of the Drouhin Clos de Mouches from vines approximately ten yards from this set... For me, this requires a food pairing that would complement its aggressively masculine style. Fair amount of acidity and tannins. Little in the way of sweet, elegant fruit. I'm not rating this, because there's a bouillon note to it that makes me wonder about it being cooked. I'm not batting a very good average tonight. 5 open, 3 flawed.

Better than bottles from 3 years ago. Less game/meat. In it's place, a sort of "sweet and sour" fruit on the nose. On the palate, relatively lush fruit dominates against some tannins and youth. Better in a few years. From a 375.

Really nice, layered wine. Probably got into this a bit too soon. It could only get better.

Drank from 375ml. Needs some time outside the bottle...gets better after an hour or so. Good color and very full body for a Burg. Full flavor after some time and very enjoyable albeit a different experience than your typical Pinot.
