Popped on a Friday night while watching a movie. This was better than I expected. Classy.
In the glass: A clear, medium intensity cherry color with slightly brick hued rim variation.
On the nose: Wet fallen leaves in the fall, dried red fruits, forest floor. The faintest aroma of smoke, like picking up on the smell of a bonfire half a mile away.
On the palate: Medium plus acidity. Low tannin. Long, long finish. Flavors of fruit, dried cherry, dried red fruits. All of the aromas on the nose I could confirm on the palate as well. This made me very happy, but also sad. Why? Because I wish I had saved it to drink with friends so they could have appreciated the combination of beauty, joy, and sheer fun contained in this bottle. My first time tasting anything associated with Dujac, and I came away impressed. I paid $60 US Dollars for this bottle which was a steal. I wish there were more bottles in the store, as I would love to have a case. The 2004 were cast off as being weak, but are drinking beautifully now. A Burgundy lover would be very happy with this bottle, at this price point.
Cheers!
