Really lovely Barossa Shiraz. Would have been interesting to have tasted upon release. The professional reviews are quite accurate for the palate. A very elegant shiraz, medium body, fine tannins. Lovely blackberry and dark fruit flavors, with just a hint of dusty chocolate. Very fresh. Seems like there should be no hurry in consuming my second / last bottle. It should do well for quite some time.
PnP on day 1. Drank over 2 days

NobleRottersSydney - Barossa Old Vine (Fix, St James, Sydney): {cork, 14%} [Gordon] Bottle 3827 of 500 cases. Vineyard planted in 1899. This shows the Barossa getting it right. Blackberry compote, plush, rich and a bit jammy but not over-the-top. Medium/full weight, with medium acidity and medium but softly resolving chalky tannins. A balance of power and plush blue/black fruit. Still very primary in character, although, there’s a real sense that the structure is at its limit and more time won’t improve things. Medium long finish, helped by the even presence along the tongue. At peak in my view, and should be drunk before it fades much. Was double-decanted three hours prior – may have helped.

Double decanted. Red purple in color, no noticeable rim. A deep velvet nose of ripe blackberry, black currant, ripe black cherry, kirsch, licorice, pipe tobacco and a minty herbaceous note. On day 2 more leather, light bacon and chocolate. Not jammy, deep and fresh Quite comparable on the palate with black currant, a bit of red fruit, black cherries and bacon. High acidity, very finely engrained tanins. Very long finish
93/94, can easily go another 10 years

Deep crimson. Intense nose. Dark fruits, liquorice, earth and charred oak. Full bodied. For me this needs some more time.
