Inky to purple, medium legs, rim variation consistent with age. Aromas are black fruit-dominant: blackberry, raspberry, black currant. Also present are oak, medium toast, hints of soy, mint, eucalyptus. On the palate, more spice emerges. Body is medium/full. The wine has polished texture. Medium plus finish, below medium acidity. First bottle enjoyed in 2017, and the wine has evolved well. Smoother. At just over $16, QPR is above average. Drink now or through 2020. Consider pairing with beef or pork.

So bizarre, since the last bottle six months ago was in great balance, but this bottle is all salt, meat, and metal. No discernible fruit whatsoever anymore. Tastes like it aged at least a decade in under a year. One bottle left to experiment with. If scoring, 83-86.

Powerful shiraz, in my opinion this is ready to drink now (Dec 2017) and is not affected by tannins. There is a 'port' feel to this, not something i'd expect to write about a shiraz - must be the barrels. There's berries, plums, pepper in there. Really good.

Inky to purple, medium legs. Aromas: definite smoke, umami/meaty, hints of cassis, coffee, toast, fig, raspberry, jam. Flavors are similar, but the meaty/smoke is subdued, yielding to the fruit with a bit of cinnamon and black pepper. Medium/full body, linear and slightly leathery texture. Medium finish, low acidity. A very well-done expression of domestic Syrah. At just over $16, QPR is above average. Great with our Thanksgiving meal, especially the spicy turkey meat loaf. Drink now or through 2020. Glad we have a second bottle.

Got on closeout at the NH monopoly for $15. Expectations were more in line with the producer than the price, and were completely met. Salty/smoky jerky flavors that fade quickly. Plum, blackberry liqueur, black pepper/cayenne, granite, and black licorice that you can almost feel melting. Complete, balanced, spicy, fresh. At peak, but should hold it for a few more years. 92+, at this price the best Syrah value I've ever come across, and more serious/brooding than a crowd-pleaser.
