This wine is a tough call, it’s not your typical Cali cab, but it’s loaded with quality components and a better future ahead of it…. perhaps? A broodingly dark, reddish purple color, with a cork that is heavily saturated. The nose was an earthy floral. On the palate, dark blue and blackberry fruits, dark currants, dark bitter cranberry, earthy mushroom and wood. The fruit is suppressed, showing tart and slightly bitter aspects. This wine would probably show much better with food, red meat. Left in a glass for a proximately 1/2 hour to 45 minutes and Coravin pours. Despite a short time for air, there was very little change from the initial taste. Day two, the same scenario. Day three, the wine finally started to budge and revealed glimpses of its qualities, yet it still was inhibited. Days 1 and 2 in the high 80s at best for me. Day 3, 90/91 Points. If I had more of this vintage, I would hold it perhaps for several months, if not years as it’s definitely constructed for aging. My score may not be fair, and this one may not be my style, but it would be interesting to see track its progression in another year, or 3.

A profound and unctuous drink. Densely rich, cassis type nose, dark fruit, soft balanced tannin, long finish. Massive wine with years to go. Just perfect now though.
Decanted and drank over the course of an hour. This is a big one with lots of miles left in the tank. A little tight up front but opened up an began to sing after about 30 minutesnnor so. Jammy black berry, blueberry compote and dark chocolate on the nose and palate. Tannins appear to be in check but can soften and integrate a bit more. I will hold for another 3-5 years before I pop the next one.

Brought over by good friend HMC......initially coravined, but eventually opened and emptied by all. This is the first Cali wine that I've had the pleasure of enjoying, that has your classic BDX horse poop/barnyard nose. Awesome!!!! I always thought it was the French terrior but no! This has BDX written all over it, except it isn't, there is still good strong cab fruit. Awesome!!!! Did I say that before? Lots of lead pencil and pen ink on the end after open for quite a while. This has so much going on and so many elements, it's quite good. I'm very glad, as a Cali cab and BDX pimp, that I have more!
Two hour decant. Nearly opaque purplish magenta color. Dried daisies, ripe pear, blackberry, blueberry, and subtle fresh brewed coffee on the nose. Super smooth palate, with zesty, tongue drying acidity. Firm, full tannins on the medium long finish. Very nice, but not particularly exciting.
