This one was in the zone. Poured pretty much jet black to the glass. The nose was slightly aged blueberries and blackberries. The entry mimicked the nose, with smoked tobacco, fig, plums, tar, blackberries, blueberries. Delicious wine. Had an ample amount of black pepper on the finish. If you are sensitive to sediment, this is one you might actually want to filter and decant because there is a healthy amount of sediment in the bottle. I'd say that this one is just about right at the top of the hill at 11 years. Could you hold this one for another 10-15 years? I think the answer is absolutely, provided that you cellar It will and don't mind having a beautifully aged Howell Mountain cab in reward!
Enjoyed at dinner out with Veal Porcini last night and with the cork put in the bottle enjoyed the rest at dinner with HMC tonight. Well integrated tannins, fruit and acidity.....a nice 'food' wine at this point. Mushrooms, earth, dark red/black fruit, almost BDX'ish. Nice drink at this stage.

Soft cork, pop and pour. Hard to believe it’s been four years since my last notes. Wine is still big. Served a little chilled from cellar initially. As the wine warmed, leather notes and fruit softened. This is a well made wine with great structure. Still have time in bottle. Enjoy now or let set.

Not sure what more you could want from a Howell Mountain cab. Gorgeous fruit. Long finish.

Still pretty big. Notes similar to previous tasting.
