Ripe golden color. In the nose yellow fruits and a minty note which adds freshness. Quite full-bodied and persistent, with notes of apricots and red apple, sweetness well integrated, long finish. I was really surprised to see the wine (my last bottle) in such a good shape after 24 years.

Not a fan. I found this heavy and cloying without the balance to bring out its flavors or make it anything but tiring to drink. Evolved color and nose. Full and bordering on syrupy in the mouth.

This is still hovering on a plateau of maturity. A couple of years ago it was all tree fruit and spice. Tonight it's all tree fruit and spice, with perhaps more smoke than the last time. The most interesting part of the wine is the finish, which has clear fresh orange rind elements - the fruitiness and the bitterness, and goes on for as long as you care to wait. There's surprisingly bright acidity for a 1997, and that keeps drawing me back for sip after sip.

Surprisingly dry (in a good way) for a Spatlese, this is still young with a piercing acidity, a distinct minerality and all sorts of fruit and spices that are hard to pin down. A really nice wine.

Comes across fully mature with a bright gold colour and an aromatic profile that combines developed burnished and smoky flavour elements with ripe white fruits, orange peel and gingery spice. Quite rich and slightly creamy in the mouth, nicely balanced and finishing almost dry.
