Didn't even know I had this; I found it when I was cleaning out one of my wine cages. Glad I did, since I had no record of ever purchasing it, and it is quite nice! On the advice of other tasters, I opened this and let most of it sit overnight in the fridge. Today, showing some real neat stuff. First, this is a 9 year-old white Rioja, so I had no idea what to expect. I needn't have worried. It is a great change-of-pace white, a whole melange of aromas and flavors, including mineral, sea spray, saline, and apricot fruit. Very fresh and alive with a fine acid backbone and a complex finish, with anise in evidence. Looks young, too! This would go well with oysters on the half-shell or non-heavy fish dishes like grilled white fish fillets. Slight bit of lanolin reminds me of a fine German Riesling too. I'm willing to bet this was a good bargain, too, though I have no idea what I paid for this, even though I have purchased multiple bottles of the 2016 in years gone by that are long gone. Do yourself a favor expand your horizons with this wine. 4-12-16-8: 90/100.

This wine went through a stretch where bottles tasted like gasoline, but everything's back in form now and it tastes like it did on release, but fuller.

Smokey nose on creamy and subtle pear fruit, flor-ish, and there's a pretty orange blossom note that grabs attention on the finish. Very different, and terrific with an appetizer of gruyere cheese and almonds.
