  • In decline. Lovely colour, perfect cork and level. But it has that unmistakable hint of caramel, and lack of fruit, which to my mind signifies a wine which is past its best.

  • Lovely clear dark colour, raspberries on the nose, and a complex (yes, in a village Nuits) palate, very compelling, fruits but woodland tastes too, tannins fully resolved, an exciting bottle, quite delicious. Wish I had more than just the one bottle left after this one. (Interesting that reviews of later vintages of this village wine suggest that it was at its very best in the mid-nineties, esp '93, '95 & '96. The '05 apart, later vintages don't generate the same enthusiasm from CT reviewers.)
