still some life in this bottle. red berry fruit with some dried tobacco and cigarette holding up the fruit. Acid was present but starting to mellow. smooth but slightly disjointed. light in body and mouthfeel. not your typical heavy domestic merlot. not sure if it peaked and is in its decline or if it still needs a bit to peak and then will decline. drink now.

I think this still had not hit peak, but it was yummy as far as my palette is concerned. My wife did not enjoy it as much as me, but I am looking forward to another bottle in the future. It is very subtle on the aromatics, with some light earthiness and red fruit. Maybe a hint of cassis.

Brief note. A wine more European in flavor profile than CA. This is an exceptionally well-balanced wine. The dark fruit tastes quite fresh and the structure of the wine is excellent. Because the finish has some very ripe but abundant tannins, still has a ways to go before peak drinking, but showing well now. I wonder if more flavor will emerge down the road, but it could improve.
