  Outstanding. Powerfully concentrated Syrah with wonderful nose and ripe prune notes. Unless you dislike huge wines with little subtlety, this cannot disappoint. My understanding is that this wine is no longer being made. Had I known that, I would have bought a case. It seems like it ought to keep for many more years.

  Decanted.
  Intoxicating aromas waft up from the glass showing notes of blackberry, creme de cassis, plum, violets, charred oak, sassafras, sandalwood and clove. Scents of earth, spice and hints of tar, black licorice and smoky herbs also come into play.
  
  The palate has great density and balanced, juicy, medium-plus acidity.
  mouth coating flavors of plum, blackberry, marionberry and creamy vanilla weave into notes of black licorice, baking spice, sassafras, toasty oak, deep earth and violets with touches of herbs and smoke.
  
  Overall excellent now and should age exceptionally well.
