Bot# A6026; 40 min decant into a plastic, cylindrical pitcher which was then closed; Some VERY fine sediment in the bottle's neck; Private Preserve after Day 1.
N: Tough to parse; Coffee, ripe plums, some choc, hints of pyrazines, poss smoke?
P: MF body; Rndish entry with NICE, almost swtish frt met by an astringent pucker which seamlessly transitions into a QUITE LONG finish with a BEAUTIFUL bitter/swtness to the few, innocuously firming tannins. As with our previous bottle, once again worked well with our Smkd BBQ Pulled Pk Butt & Smkd BBQ Pk Ribs.
// Day 2: FRAGRANT with the same elements; Now M bodied, it has held nicely, working well with the CHX Parmigiana (HmMd) & COSTCO Ravioli(Spin/Ricotta)/Marinara.
// Day 3: Has gotten firmer, but not unreasonably so; Better by itself than with the night's Grn Bean Stew/Sausage/Beef [HmMd], which it seemed to overpower.
// ∑: 15.1% ABV; My EXC (92,93/100 using that metric) for this wine which MAY still be a yr or so away from peaking, then drinking through '25. Plus, I'd be open to pleas for EXC+ based upon the QPR of the $34.95 pd for it in Aug '18.
Note: My 3rd taste of this vintage

Decanted 3 hours. Nice with a steak, but not super complex.
Probably should drink the 2nd one by 2027 (Lord willing).

Opened an hour before drinking, no decant. Fruit is no longer primary, tasted more Bordeaux than Napa/Sonoma. Minerality starting to show through.
