Extreme modernity, fashionable winemaking, & the resulting chocolate mint flavor dominate this tempranillo's personality. Not so different than firm cariñena Garnacha but with a new world bent.
It's quite full bodied, loosely built & slightly tannic, with sweet oak dominating the finish.
Was I expecting more?...probably.

At first, the wine was totally anonymous. After an hour it starts to reveal its violent and unpleasant secret... Sweet blackberry jam with coffee and vanilla in the nose, that is less than impressive. Very, very tannic, and tannin is not integrated with the fruit. Fat, Creamy vanilla. The fruit simply cannot live up to the tannic attack and therefore the wine ends up being vulgar and overextracted. Not good - not well produced.

Dark ruby purple color. Faint dark scents - spice, berries and cherries, coffee. Really dark fruit with concentrated texture but subdued flavors and adamant tannins that aren't quite integrated with the fruit. Maybe too old. It oozes potential but doesn't quite deliver.

1/1/2016 - Tobacco Likes this wine:
Inky purple.
Subdued nose, transitions to black fruit and grapes.
Palate is extremely jammy, oak/cedar, thick, medium tannin.
Overall a good value, but nothing special.
