This bottle was entering middle-age, but still fresh and piercingly intense. Sweet fruit with a powdery block of minerality. Razor sharp acidity. Drink-the-whole-bottle-by-myself good (I did share some with the wife).

Quarantine; 3/12/2020-5/29/2020 (Chicago, IL): Slight bit of reduction on the nose initially, which gives way to some ripe green fruits (think sweet kiwi) and some herbal and mineral elements. On the palate, this has razor-sharp acidity, but most importantly, the green elements are relatively toned down here. Tons of minerality on the palate and pretty good concentration too. This doesn't have the waxy richness of the Vatan, but is somehow similarly intense.

Opened with stinky salty reductive classic Chavignol aromatics. Minty toothpick, crunchy Asian pear and white and green melon, great texture. These Cotats are baby Vatans to me. Same quality, not quite the size. Love love.

Holy smokes this was good. So intense, with a very long classic Cotat finish of powered sugar and floral almond.
