Brad & Marcia's btl and a great pairing with Nitas grapefruit & radish salad prior to our main course tonight! This could have used more air as it started out a bit reserved but swirls soon coaxed a lovely experience of compelling stony minerality, apple, tangerine w/ a closing hint of salinity. This displayed excellent energy and cut that should bode well for further aging. Very pure, fresh & characterful chenin.

I’m a Baudry diehard, but this didn’t do much for me. Lacking acid and verve. This felt a bit flat, and there wasn’t enough complexity to make up for the lack of energy.
Opened for Thanksgiving 2021.

Fairly straightforward—apples, honey, and a hint of caramelized coconut—but it’s a very good straightforward. I paired this with Catalan paella rice cooked in squid ink broth and it was just an ok match. The cheap cooking wine, a Viura, with a ton of salty minerality, matched better even though this was clearly the better wine. It was a great match, though, with a Beet/Feta Galette and eggplant with tahini and fresh herbs. It seems that vegetables were just the right thing. I like this for $35 (though it shouldn’t be priced too much more) and at 7 years in, it’s showing great. Very soft and round (actually, it could use a little more acidic cut). Best, by far, in the Riedel Loire glass and don’t serve too warm. Better on day 1.

This is lovely. A point. Chalky finish, very elegant. Pretty ideal right now.

Good wine, but not as much cut, energy, as anticipated.
