Clear with debate on color of ruby vs. purple. Really a combo. Medium depth, meniscus and fairly high viscosity. Raspberry, cherry and strawberry on both the nose and palate. Hints of plum as well as this Oregon Pinot fooled us and had us thinking California. Notes of olive, vanilla and baking spice on the nose as well. Oak confirmed on the palate with a smoky buttery flavor. Dry, medium bod_y (some thought Med+). Med+ acidity, weighing in at exactly 14% alcohol. Fine, restrained tannins at this point. Med+ length. Medium complexity. More on the nose than the palate. Drinking fine at this point.

Medium ruby/purple in color. Full, forward & fragrant nose of ripe fruit aromas of cherries, blueberries & plums with overtones of spices, floral notes of violets & earthy/dusty notes, cherry-cola, minerals & a slight hint of oak/vanilla in the background. Medium bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of red cherries, blueberries & plums with spices, earthiness, minerals & a touch of oak/vanilla. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present although it does has the fruit & structure for further development with additional aging if cellared properly.

Had this with Thanksgiving dinner with the family 2017. Probably was second or third bottle of this vintage opened. Expressing fruit well as it nears room temp. Did not require decanting, only some patience as its flavors blossomed. Will hold my remaining bottle for another year, but probably not much past that. Features the standard Chehalem pinot flavors but with a bit stronger acid backbone. All six people that tried agreed this is a marvelous wine.

Oregon Pinot Barrel Auction: First Day Tastings...3 Stops+Dinner (Alexana Vineyards, Adelsheim, Penner Ash...Dinner at Bethel Heights): Deep ruby/garnet color. Red fruits, plums and floral notes on the nose. Palate was fruit forward w/black and red fruits, blackberry, cherry cola, cedar and vanilla. Should continue to evolve
