  • Decanted 1 hr. ahead. Very deep garnet color, almost inky, which is what you might expect from a Durif (Petite Sirah). The nose is good but shy, showing deep spices suggestive of old vines, blueberry, and blackberry. Somewhat soft on the palate, especially for a Petite Sirah, but full-bodied. Finishes quickly with black pepper, low grip and rather low tannins, another surprise for this variety especially with this deep color. I think they were striving for complexity here, and they almost made it. If you like your hearty reds on the soft side you may like this wine a lot. But if you hope for some structure and acid balance, well, keep looking.

  • Needs time perhaps. Pop and pour begins as water, finishes as caustic rough tannin. Let sit for two hours, mixes up a bit for drinkable daek cherry thin boied bomb in waiting. A tasting experiment, but don't serve the unsuspecting or un-warned.
