  • From a Coravin sample.
Pretty much consistent with my previous note but the oak is downplayed since then, as it should be.
Rather powerful but still elegant. Really like this.

  • Beautiful bright fruit that is bolstered by notes of cinnamon and vanilla. It’s a very appealing wine that I feel would pair well with steak due to its balance of acidity and body.

  • Served next to Soter 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon. Decanter for 1 hour before serving and enjoyed over the next hour or two. Served blind for a group of friends with limited experience with Malbec.

Fruit forward with dark berries at the fore, but the fruit was cool. Modern in style, but elegant. Some oak spice, but not overpowering. Needed the decant, and a further 30 minutes in the glass. Less savoury and cooler than the Soter and “cleaner” than if we were in bordeaux. The blind guesses on this were all over the place - high end Rhone, Ribera, modern super tuscan.

I normally prefer wines in a more “distinctive” style, but this was just plain delicious.

Probably at the beginning of the drinking window, but with plenty of mileage left.

  • Decanted ~45 minutes before serving, then enjoyed over 2 hours. Deep opaque purple, but a hint of ruby came out when swirling. Really luscious aromas centering on deep blueberries and tobacco. Medium to full bodied with strong tannins that enveloped your mouth upon tasting. Very fruity but dark, primarily blackberries, with some smokey/savory notes on the finish and some alcoholic burn. A nice malbec, though I expected more at the price. Still, paired fantastically with some skirt steak and vegetables grilled over charcoal.

  • A truly stunning wine. Deep purple fruit, layers of subtle herbs, elegantly smooth.
