Darker with more intensity and more power and a bit less acid to it. For a lot of folks this was one of the favorites in the tasting. For sure it was a wine that was just in a really nice place - came out to play right away - although as always there was evolution in the glass. Plums and darker red stone fruit style. Nice wine.

Thanksgiving week in Piemonte; 11/22/2019-11/30/2019 (Milan, Barolo, Alba, Barbaresco): From the wine list at Trattoria della Posta. Wow this was just a beauty! With some fierce competition from the '12 Bartolo Mascarello - this still came through as the wine of the meal and probably the trip. Just firing on all cylinders - open and elegant. I loved the minerality that came through on the finish that was very long. Silky and elegant mouthfeel - lovely!

Piedmont II - better and learnings; 11/23/2019-11/29/2019 (Barolo, Alba, others): Bucket list for me and so when I saw it at a not totally ridiculous tariff we figured we were up for a bit of a splurge. It was completely worth it. The elegance in this wine is just up another level. It's most driven by the mineral and it's funny how there's almost that sea floor that they talk about that you can actually taste a bit in this wine. Darker fruits. Great acid. And just perfectly precise. To me could easily be the wine of the trip.

From Magnum. Massive wine. Enormous tannins. Monica Belluci if the wine was a women. Georgeous and gets more beautiful with age. Dark red and black fruits. Forest floor with violets and peach notes. Just beautiful. I bought on a trip to London a year ago.

Licorice, deep and warm read and dark fruit which is balanced out with plenty of acidity, most complex
