"This cuvée is the classic white wine of Montbourgeau. It is usually bottled after 24 to 30 months of elevage in barrel. Chardonnay is the dominant grape but an occasional Savagnin vine is found within the Chardonnay plantings, an addition which adds a touch of complexity to the ultimate blend." —Rosenthal, US importer. EYE: radiant gold. NOSE: chocolate and ginger. Quite scented! Pistachio nougat perfume. Complicated with notes of mushrooms, roasted steel, and thorn tea. MOUTH: an easy, satin drape of exotic fresh fruit: fig, apple, peach, citron, pawpaw, white raisin. These rewards are juicy and lightly salted. Saline leads to savory contours that eventually wrap around the drink. Iodine. Walnut sap. A malt-drinker’s wine epiphany? The finish is melancholy, an elegantly relinquished teardrop of honeyed insight. Oily, severe, and slightly bitter tannins close the event. Peppermint scorn from roots. Acidity is perfect. This drink is active and thriving. I see no positive reason to hold onto it, though it might live another ten yrs.

It's the '12 not sure if its the chardonnay. Yeasty dough notes, quieter than the cuvee special. But luxurious on the palate.

Nez classique assez rancio. En bouche, des notes de pomme et de noix rances assez présentes, bel équilibre. C'est un chardonnay du Jura assez racé.
