D1h. Medium red, beginning to turn yellow tinged, 5. Generous airy bouquet, dried roses, oak casks, green stuff behind keeps freshness. Harmonious palate, mT, hA, dark fruit, tar, tobacco, long elegant finish. Drink now-2030. What a balance

30 year old wines - grower traditional style - rustic - 25 day fermentation on steel - 24 months on used oak.
Smells lovely - dried flowers, balsamic, quite some red berries. A little high alcohol and too much fruit due to the warm vintage but is, after all nicely balanced.

Popped and poured, enjoying over a couple days. Classic Nebbiolo aromas with some funk which integrated over time. Distinctive to the producer and vintage with plenty of acidity to maintain over the long haul. Drinking so well now it will be difficult to keep my remaining bottles much longer. Such a beautiful wine.

I like Jozefs note below. Benefited from 1hr of air. Nose was slightly unusual - almost like ketchup mixed with Barolo (rather than barnyard). Lovely fruit purity in the mouth though with smoke and saline elements providing complexity. Lovely lingering finish. This is an elegant winemaking style - like Bartolo but with a touch of smoke and funk. It's also quite pale in appearance. I am not sure this will improve much after 2020, and would drink it from 2018-2030. Really fine. The same style shines through in his Barbera. 94pts

The nose is very much in the style of the 2008 (brooding, spicy, red fruits, with hints of barnyard; see my note). On the palate this is darker and more structured, with somewhat riper fruit, more pronounced acidity and more tannins. Approachable with food, but needs a few more years in the bottle to fully blossom. Very good and might merrit a higher score.
