This is N. Rhone all the way – old world style, no doubt.
Incredible bouquet of white pepper & clove mingles with lavender & ripe berries.
Slightly smokey with a chocolate flavor. Oak sticks out a bit, bringing more dried spice & tannin to the palate, but I find it complex, balanced – it delivers a beautiful finish.
If I am being honest, I think Le Vieux Pin does it better.

First time I had this wine it showed incredibly well against some Napa monsters (Staglin, Aionar, Caymus SS, Insignia, ...). Thought my palate might have been in a funny place but ordered a case just to be sure. The wine is purple and opaque. The nose is very fruit forward with muddled black berries, sour cherries, understated vanilla and a white pepper tail. Large mouth feel, good acidity and fruit; less structure than I remember so 2020 might be a stretch. The finish is rolling cherry that is excellent but would be spectacular if the wine was under twenty degrees Celsius. 5+13+16+8=92
