Meaty notes with black fruit were delightful with a ribeye dinner. I was surprised how smooth and almost nonexistent the tannins were even for a 2013 while the color on the rim on the glass was a younger purple.

Hmmmm...this was being cleared out by a local retailer. The store clerk told me this was showing over the hill with a lot of bottle variation. Odd for a 2013 to be showing old after only 6.5 years. This bottle opened with some promise. Nice brett and olive tapenade...seems like this could be a traditional St. Joe. But the palate just could not live up. Seemed watery and thin. High terminal acidity with not enough fruit to balance the wine. I let the wine warm to give it a fair chance...this did yield a small improvement, but not nearly enough to recommend this wine. Food did not save it either. If this was a syrah Cote du Rhone, it would rate very good. For St. Joe...just barely good...indifferent.

1.5 years ago tasted and was then it was off balance. The acids have found some more room. But the fruits are amazing, verry fresh and clean. Verry elegant!

coffee, mokka, a bit one-dimensional, the acidity is completed covered by the structure, so lacking some balance
