Light red color. Very fragrant nose, with notes of violets, vanilla, and roasted garlic, along with a whiff of alcohol. Bright cherry fruit on the palate, along with some floral notes. Nice acidity and tannins, but a bit too bright. More bottle time might resolve this, but I suspect not enough. A nice value at $10, but rather simple.

Whoa! What wine did the reviewer below comment on? I can only suspect a bad bottle.
I have tasted numerous Barbarescos over the 40+ years I've been sampling wines. And while this one is not exemplary, it is fully representative of the DOCG. No doubt produced by a co-op, it is an excellent example of what many Italian co-ops are producing today: well-made, true to the region, fairly priced.
OK, so this is not a tannic ball-buster, it is clearly from the nebbiolo grape, very well made, and eminently drinkable. Bottom line: Compared to any other reds in the world, this is a terrific bottle at a terrific value. (Made by the large Barolo cooperative Terre da Vino S.P.A.)

Okay, this sums up Trader Joe's wines in general. They are not for wine lovers. Sorry if I sound like a wine snub, but I can assure you that I primarily seek out below $10-20 wine and get great joy in finding good values. So I am currently on this big Trader Joes experiment.
Conclusion: you get what you pay for. Trader Joes wines are typically thin, one dimensional, and lack depth. I have found a few good straightforward tasty simple wines at TJ. The point is that TJ is not going to excite you and bring joy to a wine lover that enjoy the nerdy aspects of wine. Again, you can be a wine nerd and not over spend.
This is a cheap barbaresco...that doesn't offer the same experience you would get with a decent barbaresco, which are going to be 2-3x the price. But here is my point, this is like spending $10 ordering a pair of shoes only to get a pair of socks.
