Aromatic, deep and slightly vegetal nose. Better than that makes it sound! The nose has huge aromatic charm and depth, a fresh and stony black cherry character. Light-to-medium body, very elegant but balanced. Quite persistent finish, on the acidity. All of the above understates the quality of this wine, which is aromatic, elegant, beguiling and delicious in an understated way. This is classic Burgundian winemaking.

Drinks like a Chambolle, meaning light. It is light in color, light in body, light in concentration. Given the young age, this is fruit dominated, as expected, in both nose and palate- very red fruited with red raspberries, unripe cherries, cranberry. It's fruity, but not at all sweet, in fact with a bit of an underlying vegetal (celery?) note that complements the flavors nicely. There is a nice umami character as well. Acidity is medium high, and leaves the mouth watering for food (or more wine!). Despite the fruitiness, this is a very savory wine, which I enjoy. The wine tasted very similar straight out of the bottle, a few hours in the decanter, and on day 2, which suggests this potentially has a long life ahead of it.
Honestly, while I enjoyed the flavors, it just felt so light...especially for a 1re Cru Gevrey. I would have enjoyed a bit more concentration, body, and just some more oomph! I'm all for elegance and subtle complexity in my glass, but there is a point that elegance starts feeling like dilution, and this wine is crossing into that territory.
