  • Piemonte - mature Barolo & Barbaresco (at my home): Appearance:

The wine is a deep, ruby red color with hints of garnet at the rim.

    Aroma:

The nose is complex and inviting, with notes of blackberries, plums, cherries, tobacco, leather, and vanilla. There are also hints of floral notes, such as violets and roses.

    Palate:

The wine is full-bodied and structured, with firm tannins and moderate acidity. The flavors of black fruits are dominant, with hints of tobacco, leather, and spice. The finish is long and lingering.

    Overall:

The 2011 Podere Rocche dei Manzoni Vigna Cappella di Santo Stefano is a well-made Barolo with a classic profile. The wine is still young and will continue to develop for many years to come. It is best enjoyed with grilled meats, game, or aged cheeses.

    Specific tasting notes:

Color: Deep, ruby red with hints of garnet
Nose: Blackberries, plums, cherries, tobacco, leather, vanilla, violets, roses
Palate: Full-bodied, structured, firm tannins, moderate acidity, black fruits, tobacco, leather, spice, long finish
Overall: Classic Barolo profile, still young, will develop for many years to come, best with grilled meats, game, aged cheeses

  • Med ruby from the apperance
Med+ intensity on the nose, cinnamon, leather, red plum, sweet spice, forest floor, vanilla, toast, dark cherry, developing.
Dry, high acidity, high tannins, high alcohol, med+ body, med+ intensity, dark plum, mushroom, better on the nose than on the palate, med+ finish.
Overall, very food wine. Drinks very well now, but drinks like bordeaux blend rather than barolo. I would like it to have a little bit more finess.

  • Medium garnet in colour. Pronounced intensity on the nose with aromas of cured meat, maple syrup, cloves, dark cherry, Yang berry, cinnamon, vanilla, still quite oaky. It’s developing.
On the palate, it has high acidity, high tannins with powdery texture, high alcohol, full body, dark berry and chocolate come through with medium plus flavour intensity. The finish is medium plus as well.
Modern style Barolo with a lot of oak influence. Big, powerful and a little heavy in my opinion. Personally, I prefer the traditional style Barolo with lovely red cherry purity, rose petals and tar. I will leave the rest of the bottle over the night and see if it evolves tomorrow.

  • The nose is extremely powerful, a lot of perfume. Smells like the reason why I fall in love with Nebbiolo. Really open and generous. Lot of fruits, raspberry, strawberry, ripe and juicy. Then, finish with punshy acidity. Lively, steal the show of the other Nebb on the table. Loved it.
