Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • Decanted to remove cork bits from failed extraction attempt (cork bottom cemented firmly into bottle). Very light red core with plenty of bricking throughout. Transluscent ruby-brown color. Nose reveals mushrooms, earth, smoke, cherries, violets, and hints of spice. On the palate, this is broad, mouth-filling, and long with an initial tart cherry attack that opens up to reveal a kaleidascope of sous bois, mushroom, and spice. The finsih shows violet and sweet cherry notes. The wine remained relatively consistent throughout the four hours in the decanter and glass that I consumed it over. Delicious, showing plenty of structure to hold at this plateau for some time to come. A fitting tribute to Papa Pinot, may he rest in peace.
