  Enjoyed this Petite Syrah tonight with a jalapeno, red pepper cilantro chicken soup with a ton of herbs and garlic. This wine is amazing. Poured an inky purple into the glass after a 3 hour bottle decant (be mindful that this is an 08!). The nose was white pepper, clove, and fig. The palate showed a BIG, FULL BODIED wine. At first this wine actually COMPETED with the soup, but within 2 hours was complementing the food much moreso than competing with it. Smooth entry as I have come to expect with all of these great wines. Grilled meat, cigar box, fig, clove just FLOODED in. The middle was actually quite brambly, but this is where the wine showed its structure quite well. The finish is where this one gets tannic <?>. Quite a bit of "grit" that really did play with your palate and gave everything from toffee to tobacco to blackberry to fig to prune, the same over and over again. What a great wine, that I feel will still hold another 7-10 years!
