  • Felt like its best days were behind it. The fruits had fallen off, with the funky herbs and straw remaining. A long, savory finish remained to show some of what could've been if we kept some black/red fruit on the palate.

Is this past the peak for this wine, or simply a bad bottle? I will give it the benefit of the doubt and assume I simply drank from a more advanced bottle.

  • Bottle in perfect condition; high fill, only about half of the cork soaked. Medium garnet colour, some fine sediment. Barnyardy nose. Dried red fruit, dried cherry, some dried plum, dried herbs, Maggi (lovage), complex spice notes, menthol, ethereal notes, and funk, with medium-level acidity, and very good length of the ethereal finish. Herbal, ethereal, and very savory. Complex. Light old age sweetness. Kept developing as time passed. Seemed to be at the edge of becoming raisiny, but turned out to be fruitier and even more complete on day two. Mature, drink now.
