  • A private lunch (Restaurant La Condesa, Paris, France): Not destemmed, 80% new oak. Fragrant nose of crushed strawberries, rosehip, oak spice and forest floor, good depth; pure and transparent palate, silky-smooth texture, mild tannins, bright acidity, sweet fruit, elegant and supple, barely noticable oak; floral finish with some stemmy bitters, very good length. Very sensitive wine making results in a wine of remarkable finesse and precision for this AOC. Not designed for long ageing; drink now - 2020.

  • Pop and poured. At home.
    Appearance is clear, very pale intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
    Nose is clean, medium- intensity, with aromas of garden soil earth, compost, light red cherry, dried red plum, hint of red flower. Some soy sauce with more air. Developed.
    On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium- alcohol (12%), low tannins, medium- body. Medium flavour intensity, with flavours of sweet red cherry, dried red plum, savoury earth. Medium finish.
    Very good quality Bourgogne, and Hautes-Cotes de Beaune at that. Clearly simple Bourgogne level, but very balanced, easy drinking low tannins, and winning combination of nice sweet fruit with earthy notes.
    Well, but QPR is bad I have to admit. I don't see this being able to age much more. Lacks the ageing substance and already showing tertiary signs now. Drink up.

  • ALTRA BORGOGNA; 1/16/2016-6/6/2016: 80% legno nuovo. 0% diraspato.
    Ancora muto e poco espansivo. HA bisogno di tanta aria e anni di bottiglia.
    Polvere di gesso, fieno, benzoino e incenso.
    Bocca esplosiva di fiori e sale amaro, che all' unisono con la sferzata di acidità secca del 2013 creano un profilo da nebbiolo del nord.
    Ancora un po' crudo oggi e lontano dai picchi del 2010. Credo che tra due o tre anni possa esprimere il potenziale che ha in serbo.
